Flight Unlimited III is a 1999 flight simulator video game developed by Looking Glass Studios and published by Electronic Arts. It allows players to pilot reproductions of real-world commercial and civilian aircraft in and around Seattle in the US state of Washington. Players may fly freely or engage in challenges such as thwarting a theft or locating Bigfoot. The development team built on the general aviation gameplay of Flight Unlimited II, with more detailed physics and terrain, more planes and a real-time weather system. Lead designer Peter James described Flight Unlimited III's development as a struggle, due to a lack of interest from Electronic Arts and from Looking Glass's management. Directly competing with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 and Fly!, the game became one of Looking Glass's biggest commercial flops. After selling only around 20,000 units in the United States during 1999, the company closed the next year. The game was well received by critics, who praised its terrain rendering and dynamic weather. A few reviewers lauded its simulated physics, but others objected to the exceptional system requirements.

سعودی ماہرین کا زمینی انفراریڈ توانائی سے بجلی بنانے کا کامیاب مظاہرہ

ریاض: سعودی عرب کے ماہرین نے زیریں سرخ اشعاع ( انفراریڈ ریڈی ایشن) سے بجلی بنانے میں کامیابی حاصل کی ہے جس کے تحت زمینی حرارت کو بھی برقی توانائی میں تبدیل کیا جاسکتا ہے۔

کنگ عبداللہ یونیورسٹی آف سائنس اینڈ ٹیکنالوجی کے ماہرین نے گرم زمین سے خارج ہونے والی اور آنکھوں سے دکھائی نہ دینے والی اشعاع سے بجلی بنانے کا کامیاب تجربہ کیا ہے جس کی تفصیلات جامعہ کی ویب سائٹ پر پوسٹ کی ہیں تاہم اس کی بہت کم معلومات ظاہر کی گئی ہیں۔

یہ کام پروفیسر عاطف شمیم کی نگرانی میں کیا گیا جس کے لیے مکینیکل ٹنلنگ طریقہ استعمال کیا گیا۔ ڈاکٹر عاطف شعبہ الیکٹریکل اور ریاضی کے تحت امپیکٹ لیب میں کام کرتے ہیں جو نینو اسٹرکچر آلات، حقیقی وقت میں سیلاب کا پتا لگانے والے پرنٹ ایبل سرکٹ اور دیگر برقی آلات پر کام کرچکے ہیں۔

ان کے مطابق ہم صرف روشنی سے ہی بجلی بناتے ہیں جبکہ انفراریڈ کی صورت میں سورج ہماری زمین، پہاڑوں اور سمندروں میں اس توانائی کی بھرپور مقدار شامل کرتا رہتا ہے جسے استعمال کرکے بہت حد تک بجلی کا بحران حل کیا جاسکتا ہے کیونکہ فی سیکنڈ لاکھوں کروڑوں میگا واٹ توانائی انفراریڈ شعاعوں کی صورت میں زمین میں جذب ہوتی رہتی ہے۔

عاطف شمیم نے ڈایوڈ کے ذریعے زمینی حرارت سے بجلی کی معمولی مقدار حاصل کرنے کی کوشش کی ہے تاہم اس کے لیے لاکھوں آلات لگا کر بجلی کی مناسب پیداوار حاصل کی جاسکتی ہے۔

جریدے نیچر میں شائع ایک رپورٹ کے مطابق ڈاکٹر عاطف اور ان کی ٹیم نے کئی برس قبل انفراریڈ شعاعوں سے توانائی جمع کرنے کا ایک ٹیرا ہرٹز اینٹینا معہ ریکٹی فائر بنایا تھا جسے انہوں نے ’’ریکٹینا‘‘ کا نام دیا تھا۔ یہ ریکٹینا انفراریڈ کو براہِ راست ڈی سی بجلی میں تبدیل کرتا ہے۔

شہباز شریف نے بالآخر سابق وزیراعظم محمد نواز شریف كو اعتماد میں لے لیا۔ رواں ہفتے سابق وزیر داخلہ چودھری نثار احمد سمیت دیگر مركزی رہنماؤں سے اہم ملاقاتوں كا سلسلہ شروع ہوجائے گا ۔ آئندہ چند دنوں میں بڑی تبدیلیاں رونما ہونگی ۔ باوثوق ذرائع كے مطابق وزیراعلی پنجاب محمد شہباز شریف نے عملی طور پر پارٹی كی باگ ڈور سنبھال لی ہے۔

اس تناظر میں انہوں نے نہ صرف ناراض لیگی دھڑوں كو منانے كا ارادہ كیا ہے بلكہ پارٹی كے اندر پائی جانے والی اختلافی صورتحال كو كنٹرول كرنے كا بھی عزم كیا ہے۔ اس سلسلے كی پہلی كڑی میں رواں ہفتے ہی محمد شہباز شریف اور چودھری نثار احمد كی اہم ملاقات متوقع ہے جس میں شہباز شریف بھرپور اعتماد كے ساتھ چودھری نثاراحمد كو پارٹی كی اہم ذمہ داریاں سونپیں گے۔ ذرائع كے مطابق محمد شہباز شریف نے ناراض دھڑوں كو منانے كے حوالے سے محمدنواز شریف كو اعتماد میں لیتے ہوئے تمام معاملات كو معمول پر لانے كی یقین دہانی بھی كرادی ہے۔

واضح رہے کہ مسلم لیگ (ن) کے نئے صدر کے انتخاب کے لیے پارٹی کی مرکزی مجلس عامہ کا اجلاس آج جاتی امرا میں ہوگا۔ اس اجلاس میں نواز شریف کے چھوٹے بھائی شہباز شریف کو ہی مسلم لیگ (ن) کا صدر بنائے جانے کا قوی امکان ہے۔ 21 فروری کو انتخابی اصلاحات ایکٹ 2017 سے متعلق سپریم کورٹ کے فیصلے کے نتیجے میں نواز شریف پارٹی صدارت سے نااہل ہوگئے تھے جس کے بعد سے یہ منصب خالی ہے۔
